A few weeks ago myself and one of my mates visited Lou Lou’s Tapas Bar & Restaurant and had quite a pleasant experience.
When I arrived at Lou Lou’s, I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere. It was such a vibe! The soft music playing in the background was rather good and enjoyable.
Lou Lou’s has a dark sophisticated aesthetic look that exudes style reminiscent of an old school cigar lounge. The interior is to die for! The dark wood and dim lighting add to the ambiance making you forget you’re inside a mall. The decor makes this an exciting addition to the Cape Town bar and restaurant scene.
Lou Lou’s is not only a great restaurant and bar but also a lovely place to start your night in trendy Cape Quarters. There’s a DJ every Thursday to Saturday to get your groove on, exceptional cocktails to excite your palate, tasty dishes to feed your body and soul. They also have special themed nights throughout the week.
Our waiter Thabo was very helpful, friendly and attentive. The manager Esther was friendly, polite and on-site, always came to check up on us and ensured we were comfortable and happy with our dishes.
The food is incredible. I enjoyed each meal. Their portions are valued for money even the starters.
To start we had two delicious starters, the Crumbed mushrooms, and Lou Lou’s platter. Both starters were very delicious especially the Lou Lou’s platter, a wide variety of mouth-watering appetizers.
Crumbed Mushrooms – A selection of wild mushrooms with curry aioli.
Lou Lou’s Platter – Crumbed chicken strips, chili poppers, roasted potatoes, olives, vegetarian spring rolls, boerewors chipolata bites.
Combined with our scrumptious starters we also had a variety of their signature cocktails on the menu.
I had the Porn Star Martini and my mate Genevieve had their Negroni cocktail. Both of these cocktails tasted exotic and the presentation of them was top notch.
I am a huge fan of beef so I went for their Beef fillet, Oak Valley pasture reared fillet served with Porcini sauce. This dish was delicious and the sauce they use is even more delicious. The waiter suggested it to be medium-well and was concerned that it may be overcooked if I had it well done. As a person that regularly orders well-done steaks, I knew if the quality of the steak was good, it wouldn’t be an issue. Sticking with my choice of well done, I was very happy with the steak on arrival. Perfectly cooked, presently beautifully and it was extremely succulent and juicy, just the way I like it.
Genevieve ordered the Linguine Al Gamberi, A dish that boasted many delicious aromas, it was well seasoned complete with a generous helping of wild Argentinian prawns with a touch of napolitana sauce, a drop of cream and a hint of chili, garlic, and parsley. Throughout the dish, it got a massive thumbs up from Genevieve.
With our main meals we went for our second round of refreshing cocktails, all I can say is the barman sure knows how to mix his flavours.
What an afternoon! From start to finish, we were so well looked after by the staff at Lou Lou’s. No request is too small, that’s for sure. Lou Lou’s should be on everyone’s list to visit because they are revolutionising a typical wining and dining in the evening.
Until next time…
