So it’s a sunny Saturday and I am heading out to visit Burrata
Burrata is a modern Italian restaurant that was voted the BEST Pizza in South Africa, where all their food is made with care using the freshest and best quality ingredients.
Their oven is imported from Naples, which heats up to 500 degrees Celsius. The dough is fermented for at least 48 hours to ensure a great taste and easy digestion.
The restaurant not only caters to pizza lovers but also has a variety of other Italian dishes to offer. Their cavatelli and Fiore di latte (mozzarella) are made in house at the restaurant.
I wandered in with my husband and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and the incredible aroma of baking pizza. The restaurant was filling up quickly but we managed to snag a table.
For starters, I had the Porcini Arancini and Lee had the Calamari
I enjoyed my Porcini and mozzarella risotto balls, truffle aioli and parsley oil. This starter hit the spot to my hungry tummy. I am a big fan off risotto balls and wherever I go I will always check if the restaurant has it on their menu.
Lee had Calamari, The Calamari consist of chili fried calamari, squid ink aioli, fresh herb salad, and cucumber. He enjoyed his starter and was stuffed after having it.
For mains, we both went for Pizzas (of course) we had the Fabio and Vacca Sacra Pizza
When our pizzas arrived, our expectations continued to be exceeded.
The crust was crisp, flavourful, and chewy. The toppings worked together beautifully. The bacon was nice and crispy, just the way I like it. The feta and avocado give the pizza a wholesome flavour together.
Vacca Sacra Pizza
The mozzarella had a great consistency and very little oil. The beef carpaccio is exquisite on this pizza together with the rocket and parmesan. The Beef carpaccio is their traditional beef drizzled with extra balsamic reduction, pepper, and parmesan shavings. I never would expect that I would enjoy this pizza because I usually prefer cooked beef. But the simple flavour was interesting. By the end of the meals, we were planning our next visit.
We also had two of their exotic cocktails, The Burrata Long Island Ice Tea and Caiprinhiha. Both of these cocktails tasted like more but we will return to this amazing Italien restaurant very soon.
I would highly recommend visiting Burrata. This place is perfect for groups or a date night.
