Are you thinking about taking a trip sooner rather than later? Think how excited you get when you imagine a weekend away! From the moment it’s booked, you think of it often. Everyone deserves a holiday away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.
Just when we reached level 2 of lockdown. I received an invitation from Kunjani Wines for a weekend away just to relax and break free from the busy life. I was fortunate to enjoy one such exciting break with hubby at the beautiful Kunjani recently.
Kunjani means ‘Hi, how are you?’ which is an appropriate name for such a warm and welcoming place. Kunjani is located in the Bottelary Hills sub-route of Stellenbosch, South Africa. Husband and wife Paul and Pia are the owners of Kunjani. This beautiful venue captures the history and heart of the Winelands of the Western Cape. There is a focus on fine food and wine in a luxurious setting yet guests feel comfortable and well looked after.
On arrival we had a delicious cheese platter, the platter included cheese, pineapple and ginger preserve, marinated olives, bread and a variety of cold meats. This was a wonderful start to the evening.
On Saturday we went for a walk through the valley to explore the beautiful views and mountains.
When we arrived back at the villa, we wanted to braai but the weather did not play along so we stayed indoors and enjoyed what was left of the weekend.
We stayed in the beautiful Self-Catering “Merlot Villa” which consisted of one bedroom with a double bed (which can be converted to twin beds), an en suite bathroom, dining nook, kitchen and lounge. It also has a lovely private veranda with braai and all the modern conveniences you might like such as wall panel heating, air conditioning and smart TV.
