Hi guys, so today’s blog post is all about my style guide for the races. All of us gents secretly enjoy making that extra bit of effort to look sharp. At the races, we all get our best suits on and head down to enjoy a fun day with our friends.
On 1 February 2020, The Sun Met 2020 took on Kenilworth Racecourse to deliver another spectacular horse racing event.
The 2020 edition of the event hosted a splendid cast of talent from media mogul and Face of the Sun Met, Bonang Matheba. Queen B brought her signature beverage House of BNG as the Official Celebration Partner to the event. The immaculate MCC added sparkle to the day’s festivities as racegoers enjoyed a wide array of entertainment.
The Red Carpet was opened by Holly Rey who curated a special acoustic set to capture the theme in song and performance. She was joined by Miss South Africa Sasha-Lee Laurel Olivier, Precious the Planner, Liezel Van Der Westhuizen, Gert-Johan Coetzee, and Nandi Mbatha to name a few.
For this year’s attire, I am happy to announce that I have teamed up with Top Hat Suits to dress me for this year’s Sun Met 2020.
Top Hat Suits offer a very stylish and fashion-focused collection of suits and trust me when I say they do not disappoint. I kept it relatively simple with a tasteful plain burgundy suit. I would describe my style as classic and so I don’t venture too far from my comfort zone.
Just like any other suit, I always make the effort to get it tailored to my style. The most fundamental aspect of a suit, in my opinion, is its fit.
The perfect fit
Now, of course, you know your suit size and how to find it on the rack; but the right size doesn’t necessarily mean the perfect fit. How many of you out there have bought a suit in ‘your size’ only to find that it’s too baggy when you wear it? How many more have found that while it fits- it’s just not as flattering as you’d like? Just because a suit is in your size- this doesn’t mean it’s the perfect fit. With custom made suit, you’ll get yourself something that’s perfectly designed to your body. A professional tailor comes with all the expertise behind them to create the exact look that you want. This is where Top Hat can do all this for you and tailor-make your suit to fit your body perfectly.
Make a statement
If you’re a fashion-conscious guy, you’ll likely want to stand out from the crowd. When you buy, hire or tailor-make you suit, a standard suit from a store, you’re not really giving yourself the chance to access much originality. When you invest in a custom made suit, you’ll have the chance to make your mark and have more control of your look. You might have a certain idea of how you want the cuffs, buttons or lapel to be?
Custom made garments offer the wearer a higher quality option that less expensive suits bought in store. Good tailors have years of training, knowledge of materials and the know-how to make something durable and beautiful. When you get yourself a high-quality suit, you’ll have a suit to rely on for years. Buying generic suits means that you’ll only have to replace these more often and will probably end up spending more money in the long run.
When you’re going on a special occasion, sometimes a standard suit just won’t do! There’s nothing more satisfying than getting something that looks and feels awesome. When you look great, you end up feeling great too; whether it’s a wedding or a business party- it’s surprising how much your look can lift your spirits and enrich the day. Creating the right business look is vital to make the right impression.
